Is declaring the Swine Flu Epidemic a public health emergency the right course of action by the president?
Absolutely. Better safe and prepared than to be caught with our pants down. People will start washing their hands more. See their doctor more often and generally take better care of themselves.
I know there are people who will use it as an excuse to cut themselves off from the world. We are always just a click away from a pandemic virus that'll kill millions. He did the right thing.Americans are such an unhealthy lot that they'd be more effected as a population than say just about any other country. We've eaten, drunk and partied until we're immunocompromised. Sounds like the Roman Empire who felt they were invulnerable and had settled in to a good life of leisure and contentment.
Complacency is what we must guard against.
Do you think of the results of a pandemic? It could change everything we know like the fall of the Romans, or the Persians or the Mayans.
Let's not forget that we are just one missed meal away from riots and lawlessness.
